Pohnpei – The Australian Embassy was proud to launch in partnership with IOM, the Safer Schools, Stronger Shelters Project alongside the Pohnpei State and National Government.

The project will integrate climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction into the education system and will also strengthen community preparedness through the upgrading of an emergency evacuation shelter and providing training needed to safely manage and operate the facility during a disaster response.

“Australia looks forward to continuing our partnership with national and state governments, IOM and communities across the FSM to ensure citizens are better prepared, protected and able to adapt to challenges brought by climate change and disasters,” said Ambassador Grant.
