NEW YORK — The Honorable Aren B. Palik, Vice President of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), delivered remarks at the High-Level Financing Campaign Event for the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), held on the margins of the 81st United Nations General Assembly.

Vice President Palik emphasized the importance of country-led education systems that reflect the unique identities, cultures, and priorities of the Pacific Island nations. He welcomed GPE’s growing partnership with the Pacific, highlighting more than $152 million in education grants and regional investments benefiting 10 Pacific countries.

Calling for continued international support, Vice President Palik said, “To all donors here today, our message is simple: investment in GPE works. It respects country ownership. It strengthens regional solidarity. And it reaches children in some of the world’s smallest and most remote island communities.”

The Vice President expressed appreciation to donors and development partners, particularly Australia, for their continued support for education in the Pacific, and recognized Italy and Nigeria for their leadership in advancing access to quality education.
