Suva, Fiji – Mr. Ricky F. Cantero, Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) arrived in Fiji on August 1, 2026 to attend the Forum Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting and associated events scheduled for August 3-7, 2026.
On the occasion of the visit, Secretary Cantero took the opportunity to pay a courtesy call on the Honorable Baron Waqa, Secretary-General of the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat, to formally deposit the Federated States of Micronesia’s Instrument Ratification for the Pacific Resilience Facility (PRF) Treaty, on behalf of the Government of the Federated States of Micronesia.
The deposit of the Instrument of Ratification marks FSM’s commitment to the Pacific Resilience Facility, a Pacific-led financing mechanism established to strengthen the resilience of Pacific Island countries and communities through locally-driven investments in climate adaptation, disaster preparedness, and long-term sustainable development.
With the opportunity, Secretary Cantero reaffirmed the Federated States of Micronesia’s steadfast commitment to Pacific regionalism and collective action, and underscored FSM’s support for a stronger and more united Pacific at a time when regional cooperation is increasingly vital to addressing shared regional priorities.
The courtesy call was attended by His Excellency Carson Sigrah, Ambassador of the Federated States of Micronesia based in Fiji and First Secretary Rophino Roby.
