Chuuk – The Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) has launched the Sustainable Tourism Policy 2026-2031 and the State Investment Plans 2026-2031, setting a unified course for sustainable tourism development across the nation. The launch was endorsed by President Wesley W. Simina, together with the four State Governors, during the 5th Chief Executive Council (CEC) meeting in Weno, Chuuk State.
The Sustainable Tourism Policy provides a framework that strengthens FSM’s identity, enhances visitor experiences, and ensures development benefits communities. It emphasizes sustainability, cultural preservation, and innovation, positioning FSM as a destination of choice in
the region.
In addition, the State Investment Plans outline priority projects and opportunities for collaboration. These plans are designed to attract responsible investment, create jobs, and build resilient infrastructure that supports tourism, trade, and broader economic growth.
The Tourism Division, working in close collaboration with the State Tourism & Visitors Bureau Offices, including Pohnpei Tourism Office, Yap Visitors Bureau, Chuuk Visitors Bureau, and Kosrae Visitors Bureau, contributed valuable expertise and insights in shaping the policy and investment framework, ensuring it reflects community priorities and long-term sustainable development goals.
The commitment of municipal local leaders, stakeholders, and tourism partners was recognized as vital in championing sustainable growth and prosperity for the people of FSM.
