YAP, FSM — Pacific Winds, the U.S. Coast Guard band, performed for students at St. Mary’s Elementary School on September 17 as part of a musical outreach and cultural exchange, according to a release from the Yap State Government.
Six Coast Guard musicians performed for students across all grade levels on flute, oboe, clarinet, French horn, euphonium, and percussion.
The program gave students an opportunity to hear a live musical performance and learn about the different instruments played by the visiting musicians.
According to the Yap Government, the visit was part of a musical and cultural outreach effort intended to strengthen connections between the United States and the FSM.
