Palikir, Pohnpei — His Excellency Wesley W. Simina, President of the Federated States of Micronesia, met with Rear Admiral Joshua Lasky and members of his delegation on August 10 to discuss continued progress on the Defense Site Project in Yap State.
The meeting also marked President Simina’s first meeting with new U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Andrew Wylie since his arrival at the U.S. Embassy in Kolonia. President Simina warmly welcomed Chargé d’Affaires Wylie and expressed his appreciation for his engagement in the strong partnership between the FSM and the United States.
The meeting focused on the continued progress of the Defense Site Project and the next steps toward advancing its implementation.
The FSM will continue to work closely with the Yap State Government and the United States as the project moves forward. President Simina expressed appreciation to Rear Admiral Lasky, Chargé d’Affaires Wylie, and their delegation for the constructive and positive discussions and reaffirmed the FSM’s commitment to continued coordination and cooperation with both the United States and Yap State.
The meeting reflected the positive and enduring partnership between the Federated States of Micronesia and the United States under the Compact of Free Association.
