HONOLULU, Hawaii — On October 9, His Excellency Wesley W. Simina, President of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), met with East-West Center President Celeste Connors and Pacific Islands Development Program (PIDP) Deputy Director Jaimee Neel during his official visit to Honolulu.
In his capacity as Chair of the Pacific Islands Conference of Leaders (PICL), a regional forum bringing together leaders from Pacific Island countries and territories, President Simina discussed ongoing efforts to strengthen regional cooperation. The discussions built on the recent PICL Talanoa held in Palau and focused on continued preparations for the next formal PICL convening. PIDP, which serves as the PICL Secretariat and is a member of the Council of Regional Organizations of the Pacific (CROP), plays an important role in supporting the forum’s coordination, policy dialogue, and regional engagement.
President Simina expressed appreciation for the East-West Center’s continued partnership with the FSM and reaffirmed the importance of sustained cooperation in advancing shared priorities for the Pacific region.
