HONOLULU, Hawaii — His Excellency Wesley W. Simina, President of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), met with FSM citizens residing in Honolulu on October 10, during his official visit to Hawaii, which included meetings with the United States Command (PACOM), the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and the East-West Center. The outreach reflects the Simina-Palik Administration’s continued priority of maintaining close engagement with FSM citizens living abroad.

The gathering provided an opportunity to update citizens on the National Government’s ongoing programs and initiatives to improve the livelihoods and well-being of FSM citizens both at home and abroad.

During the outreach, members of the President’s delegation delivered presentations on key national priorities and developments, including updates on the Compact of Free Association, infrastructure development, health, education, workforce development, and other government initiatives.

In his remarks, President Simina highlighted the Administration’s efforts since 2023 to advance national development, strengthen infrastructure, and improve public services. He acknowledged the progress made and the challenges that remain, emphasizing that serving the people remains the Government’s foremost priority and that national development must translate into tangible benefits for all FSM citizens.

“And this is why we’re here today. To share with you updates on what your government is doing, to answer your questions, and most importantly, to listen,” President Simina said.

The President and his delegation also heard directly from community members, who raised questions and shared concerns on issues affecting FSM citizens residing in Hawaii. The delegation acknowledged the concerns raised and reassured community members of the National Government’s continued efforts and commitment to addressing their needs.

President Simina reaffirmed the importance of maintaining strong connections with FSM communities overseas, keeping citizens informed of national developments, and ensuring that their voices and concerns continue to be heard.

The Honolulu gathering builds on President Simina’s previous outreach engagements with FSM communities across the United States and its territories, including Kansas City, Missouri (March 2024); Corsicana, Texas (September 2024); Honolulu, Hawaii (October 2024); Saipan and Guam (February 2025); and Aurora, Colorado (June 2025), among others. These engagements reflect the Simina-Palik Administration’s continued commitment to maintaining direct dialogue with FSM citizens abroad.
